PRIVATE STUDENTS-STUDIO POLICIES
POLICIES
Home Practice:
All private students are expected to practice at home in-between lessons, but every student and every household is different.
If you are not sure how often your child should be practicing, or how to get the most out of your practice time, please ask!
Consistency:
Your lesson time has been reserved for you. Regular attendance at lessons is a vital part of the learning process, regardless of how much practice time happened during the week. Consistency counts!
Tuition:
Monthly tuition is due in full at the first lesson of each month.
Please make checks payable to LCMTW.
A Paypal option is available under the MORE tab.
All Paypal tuition charges will include an additional 4% handling fee.
We will send a tuition reminder email the week prior to the beginning of each month with the number of lessons for that month, plus any additional adjustments for sheet music copies, etc.
Sheet Music: Students are often asked to provide sheet music. Please make all copies single-sided, one copy for me and one for your child.
Copies of music, theory pages, accompanist copies, or other materials I provide for students will be charged at
25 cents per page.
Bring: ALL students should bring a 3-ring binder and a recording device to their lessons. Please put sheet music into plastic page protectors. Choose the recording device that works best for you and bring it to your lessons every week. Be sure it is charged and that you know how to operate it.
Success: Private lessons are designed to accommodate the individual student in ways that a class cannot. Each student's goals are unique and methods of learning are different for different people. The more we are able to communicate and work together on what YOU want to learn and what YOU want to achieve, the more effective your lessons will be!
Technology: If you are an online student, please be sure that you are set up and ready to go on time and that you have a good internet connection. Laptops are preferable to smartphones -- it's hard to have a good lesson on a small screen.
PLEASE CONSULT OUR FAQS PAGE for general information about safety and studio policies.
ALLERGY ALERT
Many of our students have allergies to animal hair, food and/or chemicals. So please no food or critters in the studio!
I am HIGHLY allergic to perfumes from dryer sheets, personal care products, and other chemical scents.
DOWNY products, especially the new DOWNY Unstoppables, Tide, Gain and Febreze are the WORST.
And they are designed with silicone-based polymers that remain on clothes over long periods of time.
PLEASE switch to UNSCENTED laundry products.
Even secondhand transfer of these chemical scents can cause me severe breathing problems.
My ability to breathe can be very quickly affected and it is always embarrassing to have to ask people to leave...
So please be sure that you and your guests always come to the studio scent-free. Thanks!
PUBLIC HEALTH POLICIES:
A REMINDER TO EVERYONE -- PLEASE HELP KEEP ALL OF US HEALTHY!
I am part of a "vulnerable" population, so at Studio 253, we tend to operate on the side of caution.
We are not checking vaccination status, and facial coverings are not required in the studio at this time.
HOWEVER, IF YOU ARE SICK, PLEASE STAY HOME and SCHEDULE A MAKEUP LESSON.
Students who arrive at the studio with symptoms of illness will be sent home and will forfeit their lesson.

Make-Up Lesson Policies
Cancellations and Rescheduling:
Please CALL 307-920-1190 if you need to cancel your lesson, and leave a voicemail or text, including WHO you are.
DO NOT EMAIL cancellations unless you are cancelling at least one full day prior to your lesson.
I do not receive email at the studio or on my flip phone, and am rarely online between noon and 8pm.
"No shows" are forfeited lessons. Cancellations less than 30 minutes before your scheduled lesson time may or may not be rescheduled, at the studio's discretion.
A maximum of two (2) lessons per semester may be rescheduled or made up, either during or at the end of the semester. Check the web page below for available make-up lesson options/times. Additional absences will be forfeited lessons. If I should need to cancel your lesson for any reason, the tuition for that lesson will be credited to the following month.
If you know in advance that you will be gone for illness, vacation, school and sports events, or other commitments, please let me know as soon as possible. Students are always looking for slots for makeup lessons and early notice allows me to post those openings. So please don't wait until the last minute.
You may schedule your makeup lesson in advance of your absence, if necessary.
You may reschedule a maximum of TWO lessons each semester.
Additional rescheduled lessons are at the discretion of the studio and may be charged at the regular lesson rate.
Please feel free to get in touch with me if you have questions. [email protected] 307-920-1190
