NEW STUDENT INTERVIEWS, DISCOUNTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
NEW STUDENT INTERVIEWS/ORIENTATION
Orientation meetings before class begins allow us to discover the strengths and interests of our new students.
The interview is not used to make casting decisions. It is not an audition.
But it helps us to design the class/production to best suit the individual participants. These interviews are essential to our planning process, and we appreciate everyone's efforts preparing for and attending these interviews.
All NEW students need to complete their interview before the first day of class.
Please contact Deborah to schedule your time slot on the 26th. Thanks!
Questions? Contact [email protected] or 307-920-1190
At the Interview, students will be asked to:
1. Introduce themselves and tell us one reason why they want to take their specific class.
2. Recite a short memorized poem, up to 1 minute in length. Show me what you can do. "The Pledge of Allegiance" is acceptable for inexperienced actors. Shel Silverstein material is popular. Find something you like and are comfortable sharing.
Students will be asked to do a little bit of improvisation off of their prepared piece - fun stuff!
THIS IS NOT A TEST -- but please do PREPARE. Your commitment to your preparation is what is most important.
There will also be time for students to ask questions about Studio 253 and the programs they are enrolled in.
(Additional - For Musical Theater Workshop students)
Sing a song a cappella (unaccompanied), up to 1 minute in length - "Twinkle, Twinkle" or "The ABC Song" is fine for younger singers. Older singers should prepare something to show off their voice -- something you like and enjoy singing.
The group will then be taught a short movement routine or will create some physical/action improvisation.
To get to the Studio:
710 E. Garfield (Laramie Plains Civic Center) Studio #253
Come in through the North entrance on Garfield by the gym/theater. Go up the stairs by the theater to the second floor, and then straight down the hall. We are in #253, just before you reach the restrooms, on the right side of the hallway.
If the Civic Center doors are locked, or if you need directions from the elevator, please call up: 307-920-1190
